In Raleigh County Circuit Court Universal Supply Co was ordered to recover $507.69 with interest from L H Thompson of Thompson Advertising Co after Thompson failed to appear at the hearing. The Joe Trottino Construction Co case against Y A Adams was settled. H B Carden of Smithers received the Good American Award from Ted Malone and Best Years Magazine for over 30 years of 4-H leadership in Fayette County. The award was presented by C P Dorsey, associate 4-H leader.

Post 32 Will Send Six to Boys State
Post 32 of the American Legion will send six junior students to the American Legion Boys State at Jackson’s Mill June 5 to 11. Glenn Shanklin announced a telegram to Louis Johnson congratulating him on his appointment as Secretary of Defense. The post has started a fund with 55 dollars from a spaghetti dinner to take the Woodrow Wilson High School band to the West Virginia Department convention in Wheeling July 2 to 5. Local man Lloyd Worx, son of Mrs. Alice Worx of Beckley, is assigned to the Third Armored Division at Camp Carson Colorado after enlisting November 28, 1948 and basic training at Fort Knox. The Women’s Missionary Society of Athens Baptist Church will meet tonight hosted by Mrs P C Ribbee.

He is survived by his wife Jessie Lee Goad Sprague. William Y Pierce Fayette County District Boy Scout executive has established his Fayetteville headquarters.
