Bank Holdup Ends With Family Arrest In West Virginia
In a Clay County case, George Hudson 68 Leola Hudson 17 and Charles Hudson 13 all of Valley Fork were jailed in Roane County after a bank robbery at a Walton bank. The father entered the bank while the daughter drove the getaway car and Charles rode as passenger. The note demanded cash and the cashier Virgil Canterbury handed over money. Police captured the family at a roadblock on West Virginia Route 36 near Wallback within an hour. The money was found in the back floorboards of the getaway car. It was the bank's first holdup in 54 years. Hudson admitted the robbery saying he needed the money to pay debts. The revolver was not used against officers per the daughter’s request.
