Coaches and Scribes Shape WV High School Tournaments
Morgantown events tied to the state tournament spurred the West Virginia High School Coaches Association to seek statewide coach input on basketball class structure. They consider two, three, or single-class formats with votes sent to all coaches. Ernie Perkins proposes three-class setup splitting 32 largest schools in AA, next 64 in A, rest in B. Separate action by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association shifts All-State selections to eight regional chairmen under the association’s oversight.
