Coal Production Drops Below Seven Million Tons
Coal production for the week ended March 12 fell under 7,000,000 net tons with an estimated total of 6,891,000. The decline of 372,000 tons or 5 percent from the prior week’s revised figure reverses an earlier apparent recovery. Since December 1920, the drop marks a continued decrease in production. A comparison of the four Smokeless Districts in West Virginia for the week ending March 5 is noted.
