Beard's Fork Man Dies In Hospital

George Omar Frazier 41 of Beard's Fork died Monday in Weston hospital from pneumonia fever. Funeral Sunday 3 p.m. at Page Baptist Church. He worked as a barber at Page and was a member of the Baptist Church and the order of the American Mechanics. Survivors include his wife Gladys, mother Grace Cunningham, brothers Morris and Luther, and four children Robert Kath ry Cecil and Judith Ann, all of Beard's Fork. Burial at Kincaid Cemetery at Page.

Nine Fayet te County prisoners sent to West Virginia Penitentiary

Nine individuals from Fayet te County were transported to the West Virginia Penitentiary at Moundsville aboard a prison bus called Long Chain Charlie. The felons faced sentences ranging from five to nineteen years for crimes including armed robbery grand larceny and crimes against nature.

Postmaster to Be Named at Killarney

The United States Civil Service Commission announced an examination to fill the fourth class postmaster job in Killarney with a $1,584 salary. Applications are due by April 10 and tests will occur at Mullens, with admission cards mailed after April 10.

Lions Hear Scott On Legislature Acts

State Senator Eugene L. Scott of Beckley spoke to the Mullens Lions Club reviewing the 48th Legislature's acts. He highlighted the teacher salary plan the secondary road program and municipalities sales tax on whisky as key outcomes. He noted about 25 million dollars for roads over two years and cited the bond proposal for 50 million in secondary roads and a finance study committee.
