Natalie Austin of Beckley faces a civil action filed in Raleigh County Circuit Court on behalf of Oreta Webb doing business as The Curtain Shop. Webb seeks 473.85 for draperies and fittings sold Oct 4 to Dec 3, 1968. Robert J. Ashworth represents Webb. A separate tax lien of 127.31 was filed against Nannette Associates, Inc., of which Austin is president. In another filing a claim by William F. Edmonds against B B Drilling Corp of St Clairsville Ohio seeks 582. Edmonds is represented by Joseph Luchini.

Governor Vetoes More Bills On Capital Projects And Ballot Vacancies

Governor vetoes two measures including a proposal to curb political party chairs from naming general election ballot replacements after primary vacancies. He notes $2,812,940 approved for mental institution capital improvements and reiterates that the building commission can handle needed projects. The other veto would have shortened the replacement deadline from 60 to 40 days before general elections. Last week he also vetoed a bill granting job tenure to surface mine inspectors.

Double Hijacking Fourth This Year

A Delta Flight carrying 60 passengers was hijacked on a Dallas to Augusta route. A 27 year old man claiming to be a Communist forced landing to Havana and then Miami after detaining the crew. The incident marks the year’s 13th commercial hijacking.

Hijacked Delta Flight 518 Diverted To Cuba

Delta Flight 518 with about 600 aboard from Dallas to Charleston was hijacked to Cuba Monday night. Among passengers were Steubenville broadcaster Jack Berkman, president of Rust Craft Broadcasting, and Dr Beatrice Kuhn of Charleston a skin specialist. The aircraft returned to Miami after landing and Kuhn planned to continue to Augusta for a medical meeting.

Beclay area sewer leak trial heads to jury
