Farm Credit Examiner Sits Doing Nothing Near Empty Desk
A.C. Utterback, a supervising examiner for the Farm Credit Administration, sits idle at an unmarked basement desk in Kansas City drawing 700 dollars a month. He has been in enforced idleness for six months while facing potential dismissal and appeals, despite continuing to report to work and receive a six dollar daily allowance. The case centers on a report he and assistant Roland W. Bush issued about a Texas bank for co-operatives, which Bush says contained sensational charges later suppressed by FCA officials.
