Inspection to Review Beckley Runway Plan and Costs

The inspector, en route to Washington for a conference with Bureau of Air Commerce chiefs, will prepare a formal report with recommendations on Beckley runway improvements. Estimated private-contract cost about 20 000 dollars, with reliance on grass landing areas for small planes to protect shale runways. Richmond Girl and charges follow store shooting case

A Richmond girl reports an argument with Hollandsworth ending with a bottle attack. After the shooting of a storekeeper Quesenberry fled with the girl in his car. Officers found a funnel hose and fuel during the arrest. Neither Quesenberry nor the girl spoke about the Hollandsworth shooting or the flight.

Old Court House Brick Found Beneath Courthouse Lawn

Work on a new court house trench uncovered brick fragments and dust two feet below the lawn, believed to be from the old bounty building kilns on Prince Street. Residents recall the kilns where brick for the court house were burned and note the later transfer of equipment to a nearby site.

West Virginia students attend regional literary contest in Montgomery

Thomas Evans Miss Marjorie Davis and Mrs Dorothy Boozer of Stratton High School attended the regional literary contest held Friday in Montgomery. Stratton representatives Annie Russell Esther F King and John Tuck were also present along with Rev A W Russell Rev Philip F King and Philip F King Jr. Rev J C Brown of Beckley visited Affinity Monday evening for district Sunday School work. W M Freeman will preach tonight at the A M E church with his choir. Mr John Welch of Anjean was a guest of Miss Willa Mae Jackson in Beckley. Principal J C Smith Prof moved on.
