Two Fayette Miners Die After Coal Mine Incident
Two Fayette men were killed when a coal mine accident occurred near Oak Hill around 9 p.m. at the Semet Solvay Co. mine. Charlee Henry Cobb, 40, and Marty Jr. Cobb, 38, both of Deep Water, were fatally injured when struck under the wheels of a coal conveyance. The bodies were removed to Tyree Funeral Home and workers from Hilltop. the incident is being investigated.

Final services were held for Mrs Mary Grace Orvette Monday 71 widow of Sylvester Monday. The Rev Father Lawrence Becker of Hinton led the Sacred Heart Catholic Church ceremony in Springdale and burial followed at Benson Cemetery. She died in Wheelwright Kentucky after a 12 year illness. Surviving are two sons Sam Charleston and Johnny Meadow Bridge four daughters Angeline Rossi Grace Porter Wheelwright Kentucky Annie Smiralde Meadow Bridge Pauline Igli Dayton Ohio.

L E Goins 76 Dies After Illness in Oak Hill Hospital
Luthere Elwood Goins, 76, died Wednesday at Oak Hill Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was born May 29, 1875, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Goins. Survived by daughter Mrs Bella Wolf and four sons Andrew Garfield Lester John, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Wife Ruthie Bennett Goins preceded him in death in 1947.

Mrs Burr 68 Dies in Illinois Rites Set Sunday
Minnie Iola Haines Burr 68 died Wednesday at St Joseph Hospital Elgin after a year long illness. A Mt Hope telegraph operator for New River Coal Co for 18 years she was born in Athens Georgia and was a member of Mt Hope Presbyterian Church. Survivors include son Calvin Burr two daughters Viola McAvoy Nancy Bertrand and three grandchildren. The body will arrive Friday at Lindamood Funeral Home Mr Hope and be moved to her son's home Saturday. Funeral services set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mt Hope Presbyterian Church with Dr Pharr officiating. Burial in High Lawn Memorial Park Oak Hill.
