Girl Scout Week Plans Held for Mount Hope Leaders

Plans for Girl Scout Week March 10 to 16 were announced at the Mount Hope Neighborhood meeting. Barbara Neal of Charleston will be district advisor for Enchanted Hills District and Mrs. Robert H. Webb Jr. of Carlisle is new district chair. Summer camps dates and training sessions were outlined, with various sessions set for June and July and training at Oak Hill and Camp Abbot. Registered soon after, with camping records checked.

Dental Clinic Slated By Federated League

Mount Hope Federated League plans a Wednesday 1:30 am dental clinic at Mount Hope Elementary School with Dr. Frank Garrett in charge. Committee includes Mrs. Robert Penman Miss Pauline Tagart and Mrs. E Scott Carter. Members voted a $10 library donation and personal $1 contributions. The group sponsors senior art exhibit entrants and reports Heart Drive totals of $428.24.

Two Motoring Reckless Driving Fines In Pineville

In Pineville Magistrate W. Preston Wilson fined two motorists fifty dollars plus costs for reckless driving. A February 24 two car crash on Pineville Mullens Road involved Carl Cline Jr. and injured occupants from Mullens treated at Wyoming General Hospital. Harrison C. Pratt of Bailesville was arrested after darting onto the highway near Pineville High School and nearly striking a deputy sheriff.

Fayette Senior Wins Legion District Oratorical Contest

Neale Clark, Fayetteville High School senior, won the Seventh District Oratorical contest in Lewisburg with the speech In Defense Of Our Constitution, earning a four year college scholarship in West Virginia. He advances to the Region contest at Morris Harvey College in Charleston. Sponsored by La Fayette Post No. 149, Clark is active student leader and was named Student of the Month.
