4 H Leaders Association Seeks Little Beaver Lake Lease
Raleigh County 4 H Leaders Association asked the county court on December 20 to lease public Little Beaver Lake to the group for youth recreation and adult education. County 4 H agent Bill Clark said the lake remains public property and the court cannot gift it. The association hopes grants or loans via the 1964 Economic Development Bill to build a year round education and recreation center. the lake would be open to any Raleigh County or Southern West Virginia group. County commissioners offered only maintenance support and suggested leasing to an individual or organization willing to keep the facilities open to the public. The court deferred action and told a member to request park board review.
