Traffic Resumes After Rock Slide Near Stickney
Traffic on Route 3 near Stickney has reopened after a massive rock slide blocked the road for nearly 24 hours. The slide sent thousands of tons of rock across the highway into Coal River, washing out two bridges and creating extremely slow, hazardous conditions. The event follows two earlier slides at the same location and notes further slides at Horse Creek and Mount View Hill. A bulldozer work on the mountainside last summer tied to a forest fire contributed to the dirt runout in this third slide.
