Man Admits Causing 168 Circus Deaths

Ohio fire marshal says Robert Dale Segee 21 Circleville admitted setting the Ringling Bros fire in Hartford Conn that killed 168 and injured 412 in 1944. He also admitted 25 to 30 other fires in Portland Maine New Hampshire Ohio and other locations and says he is responsible for four deaths. Pickaway County grand jury indicted him on two arson counts for fires in Circleville.

Fireman Killed Six Injured in Wreck Near Avella

A volunteer fireman Louis Puskas, 35, was killed when their open squad truck left the road and struck a house en route from a convention at Avella Pennsylvania. Six others were injured and taken to Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling where officials said injuries were not serious.

Youth 17 Admits Killing Stepfather at Odd Residence

George Maxwell seventeen admitted shooting his stepfather George Shrewsbury with a 12 gauge shotgun at their home near Odd. The incident followed a court ban on the stepfather entering the house and involved a window shot after an attempted entry. The boy and his mother reported the killing to Deputy Mason Farley. East Beckleyans Plead Guilty to Wounding Charges

Lawrence Stone and Howard Fox of East Beckley pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding in Raleigh County Court. Judge Riffe set July 15 for sentencing for the men indicted in the wounding of Harold Caves, also of East Beckley.

Passenger Pulled From 46 Plane

The Civil Aeronautics Administration reported a passenger was sucked out of a C 46 plane over Accomac Virginia after a rear cargo door blew open. James Trotter of Miami Springs Florida was identified. The non scheduled J Argonaut Airlines flight departed Newark New Jersey shortly before midnight with about 20 passengers aboard.
