The Appalachian District Workshop at White Oak Country Club Oak Hill featured Wanda Farrish outlining the district plans including school books program People And Their Environment and the March 18 21 1973 state convention at The Greenbrier. Awards honors were announced for Raleigh Oak Hill Mountain Azalea and Rural Acres clubs with regional recognitions at the South Atlantic meeting.

The Kilsyth Saint Anthony Catholic Hall hosted a royal bridal shower for Debbie Moss daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Moss. She will wed Set Floyd Graham of Fort Stewart Georgia at 6 p m Saturday in the home of Rev and Mrs Ernest Barley of Bradley. Hostesses were Mrs Toney Moss Mrs Louis Angius Jr and Mrs Bobby Moss. Prizes were awarded to several guests and many more attended the event with numerous friends named.

University of Panama Establishes Sinology Program
The University of Panama becomes Latin America’s first official Sinology center with Chinese Language and Civilization added to its curriculum. Panama hosts a large Chinese community since the 19th century canal era. Francisco Javier Hsu Pin, a 1971 graduate, will teach the new courses.

Mullens Bridge Traffic Tie Up Delays City Residents
In Mullens the Guyandotte Avenue bridge caused a two hour traffic jam when a 45 degree turn blocked a house trailer. An out of state firm brought another trailer toward Maben, blocking routes to Pineville. Mayor Sonny Phillips Jr. warns visitors may avoid the city after repeated holds.
