Three Killed In U S 60 Wreck Near Charleston
A two car crash on U S 60 east of Charleston killed three men and injured two others, one critically. Victims were Gary Dawson 25 of Charleston and Delarma Asbury 72 of Charleston Route 4 with his son Cody Asbury 37 of Charleston Route 4. Delmar Asbury 17, the grandson, was listed in satisfactory condition alongside Delarma in hospital. Carl Asbury 41 another son was in critical condition.

Two men claim they were hired to kill a stable owner
Chicago police checked the tale of two men who say they were hired to kill George W. Jayne, 42, owner of the Tri Color Riding Stables, after a booby trap bomb killed Cherie Rude, 22, in June. They claim the plot began in January, with a $1000 payment and a coded telephoned order. Authorities say no arrest was made due to lack of evidence. the alleged bankroller is under surveillance in Bloomfield, Michigan.

ARC Action Planned On W V a To D C Highway
Washington APL reports the Appalachian Regional Commission will consider a proposal by the West Virginia Appalachian Highlands Association to build a highway to Washington. The plan, discussed with ARC chief John Sweeney and Federal Highway Administrator Rex Whitton, will be reviewed at the July 13 meeting. The corridor would run from Weston to Moorefield linking WV routes 50 and 55 then US 81 66, shortening Charleston to Washington travel.
