Writ Halts Court Trial of Clemans
A temporary writ of prohibition blocked Judge Henry K. Black of the Ramawa county intermediate court from proceeding with Leroy Clemens trial next Tuesday on forgery charges related to an engrossed senate bill. The writ, returnable August 56, relies on a claim that the indictment does not state a crime under state law and distinguishes between engrossed and enrolled bills. Local prosecutors planned to review jurisdiction with Assistant Prosecuting Attorney A. M. Belcher, while the trial's status remains unsettled.
