Industrial Prospects For Beckley Area Up With New Plan
Beclley Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce reports strong industrial prospects with a possible new industry and a three-phase plan for attracting business. A three-pronged offensive includes a seven-member coordinating commission, an industry appreciation week, and a 50 three-man industrial caravan trips to centralized centers. Phase One would establish the commission, Phase Two would recognize existing industry, and Phase Three would be directed by ex-Gov Okeky Patteson with local emissaries aiding outreach. A Beckley Oak Hill highway project is also eyed, along with beautification and annexation efforts, sign promotion on the Turnpike, and a rising effort to fund and expand Raleigh County schools.
