Beckley Child Is Polio Suspect In Raleigh County
Raleigh County reports Jenifer Elaine Todd six year old daughter of Dillard and Mrs Todd Jr Beckley as polio suspect. She was admitted to Marmet Hospital last Monday with unknown affliction status. She is the eighth Raleigh County child sent to Marmet as a polio suspect. Two of the eight were not polio cases and one child died from the disease.

Rites Incomplete For Mrs Tolbert In West Virginia
Mrs Laura Belle Tolbert 82 of Glen Daniel died at her home at 2 45 am. She had lived in Glen Daniel eight years and belonged to East Beck ley Baptist Church. Surviving are daughter Vella Crawford Eccles two sisters Bertha Humphrey and one other sister and brothers Dorice Painter Bradley Clarence Painter and Earl Painter 15 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren 18 great great grandchildren. Body at Caffee Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements. Coal in Michigan upper peninsula geologists date about 500 million years old, older than any other known coal deposit.

Mills Resting Well at Bluefield Sanitarium

Trial Docket Onens Tuesday
The June trial docket of Raleigh County Criminal Court opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday with 125 jurors reporting for duty. Twenty cases are set for trial, 14 of them appeals on prior sentences, with Criminal Court Judge Harry L. McCreery presiding. he is to be sentenced July 12. William Owen Goddard, already sentenced to three years in the penitentiary by Federal Court Judge Ben Moore at Bluefield for interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle, is also scheduled for trial Tuesday on two counts of obtaining goods under false pretenses.
