Mrs Gaines and Son Hospitalized After Wreck Near Luray Virginia
Mrs L E Gaines and her son Ebersole Jr remain in a Virginia hospital several days after a wreck near Luray. The car veered off the road to avoid a collision, flipped multiple times, and left Mrs Gaines with head injuries while son Ebersole Jr suffered two broken ribs and severe bruising. Other passengers, Luddie and Stanley Gaines, sustained minor injuries. Gaines, president of the New River Coal Company, left Fayetteville for Virginia after the crash.

The Industrial and Publicity Commission reports that 54 percent of cars on U S Route 60 near Hawks Nest State Park carried out of state plates and 36 percent stopped at the park during a four hour spot check. Ohio led after West Virginia in representation with Virginia Illinois Indiana and Pennsylvania also well represented. Licenses from 30 states were observed. The survey is part of a study on vacation volume and spending in the state with 52 parties interviewed.

Principal Burned Trying to Extinguish Home Blaze
Carl Hazzard principal of Conley High School sustained second and third degree burns while attempting to extinguish a fire at his Broadway Street home.
