Final rites for Alex Harvey Presley held at Welch

Final rites for Alex Harvey Presley 72 of Anawalt were set for 1 p.m. Saturday in the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel Welch with burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road. Presley died Thursday in a Welch hospital after a long illness and was father of Bennie Presley of New Richmond. Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m.

Andy L. Huzoski Dies. Rites Planned at St. Anthony's

Andy L. Huzoski 54 of Mount Hope died at 9 45 p m Wednesday in a Beckley hospital after a long illness. A high mass will be sung at 10 a m Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Kilsyth with burial in High Lawn Memorial Park. He was a coal miner for New River Co Cranberry and a member of St. Anthony's and the United Mine Workers. He was born December 25 1917 in Detroit Michigan to Joe Huzoski and the late Anna Huzoski. Survivors include his wife Josephine Romao Huzoski a daughter Mary Ann and a son Andrew both at home and a sister Anna Fama of Beckley. The rosary will be recited at 8 30 p m today at Tyree Funeral Home Mount Hope with calling hours 7 9 p m today.

Beckley Fire Department Reports Early Morning Calls

Beckley fire crews answered one blaze and two rescue squad calls at 6 50 am to a 1969 truck on Adair Street. Firemen extinguished the fire. A first aid call at 9 14 am on 213 Prince Street involved Joe Berillo who fainted and was taken to Beckley VA Hospital. At 10 45 am firemen responded to 22434 Main Street where Jeanette Reed was ill and received oxygen before transfer to Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital by private ambulance.

Black Lung groups press for role in new law rules

The Black Lung Association representing West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky met federal officials in Charleston to demand regular participation in drafting regulations under the new law signed by President Nixon.
