Four Perish In Ship Explosion Near Cuba
A Dominica Republic steamer SS Victoria suffered a boiler explosion off the northeast Cuban coast 15 miles from shore. Four crew members died and four were badly burned as Coast Guard Dauntless and a medical helicopter evacuated victims to Miami for treatment. The 297 foot vessel was about 350 miles southeast of Miami when the blast occurred. The ship’s cargo and destination were not immediately known.
