Sheepmen Informed Of Incentive Payment
Ben Morgan of West Virginia University explains the federal incentive payment for wool, clarifying that payments depend on actual sale price and production effort. Using 1954 as example, a 60 cent sale would yield about 14 additional cents, while 40 cents would yield about 9.3 cents, with total per pound values adjusting accordingly. Producers must file an application with their County ASC Office after selling wool.

New Zealand Strip Grazing Boosts Milk Per Acre
New Zealand style strip grazing is doubling milk yields per acre in California and Wisconsin. Wisconsin farms cut pasture needs from 11/2–2 acres per cow to as little as 1–4 acres per cow while many strip grazers top 5,000 pounds per acre. Electric fences move daily, with four or five daily shifts common. Some farmers project gains of 160 to 200 dollars per acre from strip grazing plus grass silage.
