UMW Hospital Sale Talks Stall Over Price Dispute

Negotiations to sell 10 United Mine Workers hospitals to the United Presbyterian Church stalled after the UMW Welfare and Retirement Fund refused to justify its 9.5 million price. Methodists Open Annual Meeting in Buckhannon

Unopposed Mayor Candidate Beaten in Clark County Balloting

Municipal Elections highlight cross 160 towns in Clark County. Mid dlebourne saw John Cline defeat write in rival Cunningham 81 to 62. Tyler County towns elected councilmen Weekley Spencer Jamison Carpenter McHenry. Welch approved a 50 000 bond for streets with 405 to 5 against. Grafton rejected annexation but elected Hill Murray Lansperry. Wheeling incumbents held four of 11 seats. Clarkburg and Bridgeport re elected officials and approved library levy.

Incumbents Ousted in Four Area Towns Fitful Mayoral Races

In four area towns voters ousted incumbents in Tuesday elections. Sophia chose O. A. Phillips as mayor with 231 votes, Mabscott elected B. C. Sisk, and Rhodell picked Sam Lilly, all new mayors starting July 1. Lester kept Mayor Charles E. Cook as Citizens won with only 63 voters. Unofficial results show mixed incumbents and newcomers across the ballots.
