Move To Oust Reid Backfires In East Park Dispute
East Park residents dispute attorney B H Payne claims to represent them in a suit against the Board of Education over Reid’s contract. Acknowledgments from local families say no single voice speaks for all East Park residents. Plaintiff Clifford Goode, a retired East Park resident, alleges the board erred in renewing Reid’s contract beyond age 65. The NAACP leader said Payne’s stance does not reflect the wider Negro community. Reid has broad support among local Black residents for his integrity, though opinions on integration vary.
