Raleigh Education Board Hears Integration Protests
About 250 Raleigh County residents from seven communities voiced protests at the education board meeting over a tentative integration plan for eight schools this September. Delegations pressed for county-wide action and questioned where Negroes would be placed, while others urged delaying or postponing integration. Chairman A P Leeber noted the plan was not yet official and that final approval awaited the board.
