Fayette Mine Inspector Quits
Fayetteville report says Frank Simms resigns after long tenure as District 34 mine inspector. He sent his resignation to the State Department of Mines to take another post in the 4th district covering parts of Fayette and Greenbrier Counties. Simms had prior federal violation checks and rock dust inspections before his promotion and previously worked as a foreman for New River and Pocahontas Consolidated Coal at Kaymoor. He will remain in Fayetteville.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. for Amos Arnell McKinney 36 who died of lung cancer at Basin Home. Rites were conducted at Old Spruce Church Basin with Rev. Philip Graham in charge. Burial followed in Mills McKinney Cemetery. Survived by his wife Naomi children Hugh Larry Charlie four daughters six sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were at noon for Henderson Shrewsbury 82 of Dott who died Wednesday at home after a five week illness. Rev. Marion Couch led services at the Shrewsbury home with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Shrewsbury was born March 10 1875 and lived in the Dott area his entire life. Surviving are his wife four daughters four sons two brothers and four sisters. A birth notice from Baileysville reports Rebecca Lynn born July 8 at Wilkinson Clinic Pineville to Aley and wife Adams.
