Beckley seeks changes to beer law and music ban
Beckley officials consider modifying the new beer ordinance to permit radios and victrolas in beer selling venues until a reasonable hour, with a 10 o clock curfew. Attorneys Scott and Maxwell represent restaurateurs arguing the ban is invalid and discriminatory. Police report no arrests yet as the city enforces the 11 pm to 7 am sale ban, while minors and known prostitutes are barred from loitering near beer establishments. Proponents note about 25000 dollars invested in nickel victrolas across Beckley.
