A July 24 report says Albert and Pearl Miller are jailed on $5,000 bond over John Plummer’s death found by the Miller residence. Mrs. Miller admitted shooting Plummer. troopers note long standing enmity between the Miller and Plummer families.
U S Steel and subsidiaries will pay time and one half for overtime starting August 1. The plan covers all hourly, piece, or tonnage workers and requires overtime beyond eight hours in a day or beyond six days in a week, with six consecutive days needed for weekly overtime. Similar measures from Republic Steel and Inland Steel follow.
Secretary Daniel W. Ambrose of the State Negro Democratic executive committee said the group will meet August 7 in Clarksburg instead of this week to allow counties time to select their representatives.
