Death claim ends life of Beckley area farmer Thomas Warden
Thomas Warden 179 died at 3 o'clock this morning at his son J. J. Wardens home in Callaway Heights after about two weeks illness. He was born in June 1856 and lived a life of farming and carpentry. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Warden residence conducted by E Dosier of Pax with burial in the family cemetery. Surviving are three children J W Warden Fred Bair and Mrs J H Smith. A half-brother M B Baldenburg resides in Washington D C.

Two Men Held In Alleged Robbery At Pemberton
Bill Cox and Everett Richmond of Pemberton waived examination and are held on 5000 bond each for assault and robbery of R. B. Sampson of Beckley as he left Pemberton station early Monday. Clifford Frye, 20, also of Pemberton, was released with no charges. Sampson testified his eyes were blackened and his face scarred from the assault and he was robbed of his watch and three dollars.
