Pen Warden Won't Retract Resignation
Waymond Riley, education director at West Virginia State Penitentiary, left his post after Warden Ira Coiner refused to accept a retraction of his resignation. Riley had written a letter with demands, and Coiner treated it as resignation. Riley had received a conditional pardon for a 1965 embezzlement conviction and previously held positions as Wirt County school superintendent and Kanawha County elementary principal.
