Grain Traders Make Fortunes in Drought Boom
Chicago July 20 The drought drives big profits in corn and wheat futures with over a billion and a half dollars in play since June. Veterans say daily gains of 10 000 to 5 000 dollars are common as prices climb 30 to 34 cents on drought days. A 5 000 bushel purchase in early June could net 1 500 to 1 700 before a later 4 cent pullback. Long drought rally shows high day to day volume since New Deal trading rules.
