Bullet Discharges Wounds Raleigh County Youth
Willard Lee Lilly Jr. was accidentally shot Friday the 12th while trying to dislodge a bullet from a .25 pistol belonging to his grandfather. The bullet entered his left thigh in front of the Lilly home in Take-In Hollow rural area. He was admitted to Wyoming General Hospital about an hour after the incident.

Durham Services Set on Thursday
Funeral services for Eugene Henry Durham 67 will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Webb and Quesenberry Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Evergreen Cemetery Roanoke Va. Durham died Tuesday morning in Mullens after a three month illness. He was a retired miner and UMW Local 7086 member born December 31 1888 in Ripple Head Va. Survivors include his wife four sons three daughters three brothers and three sisters.

County System Loses 2 Teachers
Raleigh County schools lost two teachers with the resignations of Mr. and Mrs. Sam St. Mair on Saturday. They will leave Beckley in August for Sarasota Florida where he will teach at Philippi Shore School and she at Sarasota Junior High School. St. Clair served nine years in Raleigh county including as principal of Glen White Junior High School. Mrs. St. Clair taught 13 years including home economics at Beckley Junior High School. They have two children and will rent their home at 121 Beckley Ave for now.
