Fayette county tutors were taken to Chimney Test to testify all day in a case covered by the Register in Beckley West Virginia. The report notes a lengthy testimony session with no further details on participants or outcomes.
Testimony on a well gasoline claim was presented as jurors viewed water samples. The city won $190.50 from J Paul Kimrey for causing a damaged street light after a truck crash. SUN funeral services were to be held for James Washington Carter 73 of Wellsville died Friday in a Beckley hospital. Rites from Sunrise Baptist Church at 2 pm with Rev. F. E. Fleming officiating. Burial in Sun Cemetery. Survived by a brother Robert D. Carter. Visitors noted Glenna Van Camp and Mary Alice Hornick visiting Norva Stewart in Leevale. they arrived last Tuesday and leave Sunday July 23.
Oak Hill Republican Woman's Club named delegates for the Federated Republican Woman's Clubs national convention in Cleveland on Aug. 29 30. Mrs C R Hill serves as secretary of the state organization and accompanies the delegates. Planning included a silver tea July 27 to fund the national campaign, a Third District meeting at Fayette County 4 H Camp Aug. 9, and a pot luck meeting Aug. 23 at Maplelane Farm near Fayetteville.
Miss Kathleen Wood of Charles M Burns is honored at a lingerie shower hosted by Dessie Penge of Minden at the Wood home in Oak Hill. A color themed party features games and refreshments with many Oak Hill residents listed as attendees and several Beckley and Fayetteville guests.

Pineville Police Chief James Gibson, 39, was shot in the thigh during an altercation at a restaurant then wrecked his car on a bridge near Vetch. Keystone Police Chief Harry Ciphers said the chief was found unconscious, later reporting the injuries and theft of his weapon after a confrontation with a Black patron.
A ten-year-old Mullens boy visiting his grandmother in Beckley was hospitalized after a bicycle wreck on a Sunday. He was thrown six feet from a bridge into a rocky creek bed when his bike struck a rock, injuring his elbow and lodging it in traction. Doctors expect a week to ten days of hospitalization. His father Virgil Cook of 19 Highland Avenue reported the injury.
Darrell B. Dunn of Mullens was named field executive for the Buckskin Council Boy Scouts. He and his wife live at 521 EB. Wash Kingston St., Lewisburg. Dunn, a West Virginia University forestry graduate, has held roles in Alpha Zeta Phi Epsilon Phi Sigma Chi and the Forestry Club. He and a donor group plan missions to Japan and Athens Tennessee, with bake sale fundraisers and a camp delegate effort announced at a meeting hosted by Mrs. A. T. Robertson.
The Wyoming County Canning Center will be open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the remainder of July. Patrons are asked to bring their own knives towels aprons salt and sugar. All food to be processed must be in by 2 p.m. Brown studied new methods in Clarksburg with U S Department of Agriculture specialists. Pauline Brown of Pineville is the center instructor. A test run showed the Henry Clay family making apple sauce and canning apples. A steam tunnel will be installed to replace the old vat with an automatic water heating unit costing about 335 dollars for the two pieces. A purchase of 25 000 cans was made for the season with package costs of eight cents a quart and six cents a pint.
Mrs P J Smith hosted the Birthday Club meeting of the South Mullens Church of God Missionary Society. Five July celebrants received handkerchief gifts and refreshments were served by Mrs Smith and Mrs Paul Christian. Honorees included Mrs Harry Wyatt Mrs Leon Huffman Mrs Christian Mrs Smith and Miss Patty Minnick.

A Princeton area notice mentions Eva Belinjing Company plant owner Ball Ti Moran with long term ownership and an $18 000 garage apartment permit granted to Carl Moran by the city recorder.
