Centennial Dollars To Be Destroyed In Charleston
The Board of Public Works will destroy all but 100 of 118038 Centennial Trade Dollars from the 1963 celebration. The 100 survivors go to the Department of Archives and History. An earlier request to sell the surplus at one dollar each was declined to avoid upsetting 1963 buyers and because literature suggested no sales after November 1963.
