A Czechoslovakian four engine airliner hit a high tension wire in fog near Casablanca and crashed killing 73 aboard. Survivors include Kouli Baly, a 29 year old Mali citizen, who died later. The crew and passengers hailed from Czechoslovakia Russia East Germany Morocco and other destinations. The flight originated Prague with a Zurich stopover.

New River Drowning Victim Identified in West Virginia
The body of 71 year old James B Wyant of Hinton was recovered from the New River at Sandstone. Police identified the victim Tuesday night using a social security number found on clothing. A sister said she had not reported him missing, believing he was with a friend in a rural Summers County area. Wyant had left to visit his friend on June 30.

Tank truck crash near Oak Hill kills driver
A Ryder Tank Lines tanker plunged 100 feet down an embankment off Route 61 near Ingram Branch, killing Homer Prevatt, 59, of Blue Creek, Kanawha County, and injuring his assistant John Beirne, 39, of Queen Shoals. The truck overturned in Loup Creek bed after veering off a curve. Prevatt died en route to Oak Hill Hospital from head and neck injuries. Beirne suffered a fractured hip and extensive cuts. The vehicle was returning empty from Chattanooga after delivering chemicals for Union Carbide.
