Carper Indicted On Murder Charge In Princeton
Irvin I. Carper of Princeton, age 136, charged with the fatal shooting of 22 year old Frazier Harless after Harless and Mrs. Carper left a truck in front of the Princeton Police station. Harless and Mrs. Carper had sought protection from Carper who had been following them in his own truck. Also in the city a Morrison Plumley Sr. was arrested for speeding with a $15 bond. A chancery suit was filed by Virginia Crabtree Blankenship, infant plaintiff, against Junior Martin Blankenship in Mercer Circuit Court. Centennial events in Raleigh County were outlined with plans for a queen contest, broadcasts, a fireworks display, and promotional activities to raise funds for the celebration.
