Hallanan Leads GOP and Works Across Lines at Chicago Meet
Walter Simms Hallanan, temporary chairman of the 1953 Republican National Convention, is praised by Democrats and Republicans alike for his impartiality at the rostrum. Taft for the GOP nomination but pledges fair play.
