Toll Row 214 Fatalities Rise in State Traffic Toll

Morgantown AFI reports two men dead and a six month old girl badly hurt in a station wagon logging truck crash on U S 19 near Laurel Point. Victims were Robert Pyles 43 and Susan Soles Sullenberger 32 of Greensboro Virginia. Also severely injured was Michelle Sullenberger. Mrs Sullenberger was driving left of center when her car struck a truck driven by Robert Johnson of Uniontown Pa. The crash adds to the state fatality toll reaching 214 for the year with deaths from a related anteitrail incident at Lestan June 14.

Low Bid On I-77 Bridge Contracts Reported

CHARLESTOWN UPI A joint bid of 1 509 440 dollars from Pinsborough and Rancevette firms was the apparent low figure to the State Road Commission today for the substructure of the Ohio River Interstate 77 bridge linking Wilkamstown Wo Van and Anavigta Ohio. The bid covers two abutments four T beams and six river piers for a project valued around five million dollars to be the state’s most expensive river crossing. Herman Huntant said the low bid for the I-77 projects in Jackson County was also submitted today by Mountaint Construct Co of Culloden to build bridges over relocated Sec 1 and relocated Sec 3 for 385 227 dollars. Each bridge will use concrete substructures and three contiguous T beam spans.

Rebels Fire On OAS Troops In Santo Domingo

In Santo Domingo the D R rebels opened fire Tuesday night on Inter American Peace Force troops triggering a gunfight along the security corridor. A peace force spokesman said rebels began shelling positions held by Nicaraguan and Brazilian troops across the corridor. The rebel spokesman called the firing an act of intimidation and said tracer ammunition lit the air.

Wheeling Man's Fourth Jail Term For Firework Prank

Kilgore Kilgore, 32, of Wheeling, sentenced to 50 days in jail after a firework stunt on Fort Heavy Bridge during the Munich 1101 fireworks display. He climbed 200 feet, dropping crackers into the Slo Ola River as rockets flew overhead. Police struggled to bring him down. Pas ten, 26, was fined $20 for drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Kilgore completed his fourth jail term after about 75 minutes on the bridge.
