The Cape Henry light near Jamestown landing site in Virginia dates to 1791 92 with its first keeper appointed by George Washington. After neglect from 1831 to 1930 Congress deeded the structure to the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities as it undergoes a modernization project and dam addition.
