Prison Sentence Awaits Boodlers
Baton Rouge Louisiana July 5 Hu ey Long amused himself yester day by polting messages at President Roosevelt and other political enemies as his legislature assembled for its seventh session within a year. Long outlined measures to strengthen his state dictatorship and embarrass New Orleans administration Mayor T Semmes Walmsley. Martial law remained but few soldiers were present at the capitol. Three special sessions last year and two this year preceded this five day session. Long said he would return to Washington Monday after dispatching a satirical missive to the president about jail terms for political use of federal money. The assembly listed 16 items including a $200 fine and 90 day jail for using federal relief funds politically. He claims Roosevelt seeks to pour money into Louisiana to defeat him in 1936. He noted he was on friendly terms with the powers that be and would push relief politics out of spending.
