49 Star Flag Becomes Official At Midnight
The United States adopts a 49 star flag marking Alaska's statehood with ceremonies at Fort McHenry Baltimore and Independence Hall Philadelphia. The flag will be raised at 12 01 a m at Fort McHenry and later at Independence Hall. Existing 48 star flags may still be flown until worn out. Alaska’s capitol will display the new banner and the Alaska State Museum will house the first produced flag. Governors of the original 13 states invited to lead descendants of Declaration signers at Philadelphia.

Flag to fly at Beckley Fire Dept for World War hero
Jerold Bostick, a Beckley Fire Dept former member, was mortally wounded saving a burning plane crew at an American airbase near Paris in 1915. Record Crowd At Camp Meet In Raleigh County
A Church of God Camp Meeting at the Beckley Recreation Building drew a record attendance with more than 1,000 registrants Thursday night. Rev. J. F.
