Beckley Players Stage Three One Act Plays
The Beckley Players presented three one act plays in the Memorial building auditorium to a packed house. The Valiant, a grim drama about a man awaiting execution, drew the most praise with Dorsey E. Biggs as warden and Ruth O'Dell as Josephine Paris. The First Dress Suit, a farce about pre wedding antics, got much laughter with John E. Bridge as the dress suit heir and Mrs. Harding played by Manetta Gerhold. Thursday Evening opened the program with strong performances from Emerson Pownall, Mary Alice Wriston, Gladys Thompson, Elizabeth Phipps, and others. The Valiant was voted the best, narrowly edging The First Dress Suit by one vote.
