Milk Consumption Drop Labeled Health Threat
Freeman warned that a drop in milk consumption could threaten public health and the nation’s vigor, affecting dairy handlers and farm equipment markets. Ahead of President Kennedy's speech at the National Conference on Milk and Nutrition, representatives from dairy, nutrition, consumer groups, and schools gathered. In 1961 milk production rose by about three billion pounds, yet consumption fell by roughly 2.5 percent, likely due to unexplained shifts in diet patterns.

High Court to hear Dunbar death penalty case
Common Pleas Court halted the trial after a March 20 statement by the prosecutor that the state might not seek a death sentence. The defense argued the remarks removed the case from capital crime classification, urging the matter be treated as juvenile. Judge Hereford certified the case to the High Court by agreement of both sides.
