AFL-CIO Opposes Governor Moore Tax Plan in West Virginia
AFL-CIO President Miles Stanley said the federation will oppose Gov Arch Moore's plan to fund his 36 million legislative program by eliminating tax exemptions. The Rev C T Johnson of Derrydale died Monday evening at Oak Hill Hospital after a long illness. His body lies in state at the Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor in Beckley awaiting arrangements. Rosetta Hairston 81 of South Kanawha Street will be laid to rest Thursday at 2 PM at St Matthew A M E Church Mills Street with Rev M M Mitchell officiating. Hairston, born August 26 1887 in East Bend NC, was daughter of the late Aaron and Estelle Benton. She was a member of St Matthew A M E Church. Survivors include three sons William and Aaron Beckley Charlie New York City NC one daughter Mrs Holsteen Hairston Beckley twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The body rests at Trent and Durgan Funeral Home with calling 7 to 9 PM Wednesday. The body will be moved to the church one hour before services.
