Jacoby on Bridge West 1975 Game Logic in Six Spades
In a six spade contract South should avoid overruffing and time the trumps. After first heart ace, South leads three spades from dummy and wins with king. He then ruffs a heart and uses diamonds to test the suit, throwing East in with the ace of trumps. East’s best defense is to cash the ace of trumps early. the correct play preserves the contract and demonstrates timing. The column ends with Today’s Question asking how to respond after partner rebids to two hearts.
