Gas Station Robber Gets Six Year Term in Harper area
Dewey Shrewsbury of Claremont pleaded guilty to breaking into a filling station near Harper and was sentenced to six years in the penitentiary by Judge Harley M. Kilgore. The station was owned by Johnson Beckelheimer. Julius Richardson, 19, on probation for five years after a prior auto theft sentence, was tied to a car theft case involving Charles Marshall of Beckley. Violet Mitchem received six months in jail and a $1 fine for aiding an escape. Trials for 39 criminal appeals are set to begin Monday January 18 with docketed cases through February 1 including murder, maiming, burglary, grand larceny, and obstruction charges.

Messages came from Edward Bremer of St Paul who was abducted and ransomed for 200000 dollars in 1934 and from the Robles family of Tucson who were seized that year and found safe after 19 days. Miner Arrested On Bigamy Charge In Raleigh County
Luther Wykle, arrested at a Winding Gulf mine, is in the county jail awaiting a preliminary hearing on a bigamy charge.
