British Arrests For Spying In Bow Street Court
At Bow Street Magistrates Court three men and two women were ordered held on spying charges for a foreign power. Henry Houghton 55 and Ethel Gee 46, both Admiralty workers, were denied bail along with Peter Kroger 50 and his wife Helen 47 and Gordon Lonsdale 37, a company director, in a case linked to the Klaus Fuchs spy era.

Bald Knob Slopes will not offer skiing today or Tuesday unless several inches of natural snow fall to cover the artificial base. Manager Tom Minter said if enough natural snow arrives, the snow machines will be activated Wednesday provided temperatures stay low. Four Die In North Side Rooming House Fire In Chicago
In a pre dawn blaze at a three story rooming house, four people were killed and two severely burned. Firemen named two victims as Mrs. Sarah Harris 77 and Albert Schorn 62 both from Chicago. Two more men were unidentified. John Ambrosio and an unnamed resident were in critical condition at American Hospital as 50 residents faced 18 degree cold.

Negroes enroll at Georgia U marks desegregation
Two Negro students, Hamilton Holmes and Charlayne Hunter, entered the all white University of Georgia in Athens to register for winter semester classes. A crowd gathered at the arch as 22 degree weather persisted but there were no demonstrations.
