Chamber Group Seeks By Pass for Mullens Mall

A five member committee is formed to push a by pass route for Mullens business district with aim to add parking for about 1000 vehicles. The Mullens Chamber of Commerce proposes higher dues of 25 and 12 50 for different members to fund full time staff and services. President Ralph Hash names E Claude Cook D Grove Moler B T Hash and Mayor Joe Orr to lead efforts and letter to State Road Commissioner seeks appointment for discussion. Attendance at the chamber meeting was at a record high as new dues take effect and plans for large dollar days to promote local business are set.

Fayette Grand Jurors Return 53 Indictments in Fayette Circuit

Fayetteville grand jurors handed up 53 indictments in Fayette Circuit Court including 46 felonies and seven misdemeanors. Cases name suspects such as Albright McClung Bennett LeMarr Creed and Corum for break ins thefts and robberies. Several defendants face charges of murder burglary larceny forgery and theft of copper wire and vehicles across last year.

Trio Arrested In Wyoming For Armed Robbery

Wyoming County deputies cracked a two-robber crime spree with the arrest of three men and a 16-year-old youth. How ard Brown 23 and Ira Brooks 29 were captured after Brooks signed a confession admitting participation. Ray Workman 22 is believed stationed in South Carolina with the Marines, while a Baltimore arrest of the Brown brother awaits extradition. Deputy Oswald Cook led the investigation and Sheriff Goode credited him for solving the Oct. 1 robberies.

Hutchinson Rites Scheduled At Scarbro Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Lee Rider Hutchinson, 72, will be held Sunday at the Scarbro Methodist Church with Rev Albert Noe officiating. Burial will be in Peters Cemetery, Dothan. She died Thursday morning after a week of illness from a heart condition, survived by husband Wayne, two brothers, a sister, and other relatives. The body will be moved to the Scarbro home Saturday afternoon and later to the church one hour before services.

Woman Indicted for Torso Murder in Mercer County

PRINCETON Arizona Love of Bluefield faces trial in Mercer Criminal Court after being indicted by the grand jury on a murder charge. She is accused of the torso murder of Sonny Marshall, also of Bluefield, in a batch of 23 felonies and six misdemeanors returned late Wednesday.

Henry K Wolford dies during visit at 22

Henry Kenneth Wolford 22 died during a visit to his parents after a heart attack. A telegrapher for C O Railway in Richmond born March 3 1930 in Kathryn to Harry and Mary Wolford. Survived by parents five sisters and four brothers and grandmother Mrs Alice Flanagan of Maplewood.

Wyoming District Scout Leaders Meet Wednesday
