Richard Piechowski 68 went to the 5th Precinct to complain officers swore at him after a ticket for driving without registration. Lt. George Potts ordered arrest, later released Piechowski on $100 bond. Piechowski did not pursue the complaint.
Hobart Burton 76 of Greens Town died today at 2 30 a.m. at Oak Hill Hospital after a long illness. A retired miner and member of Greens Town First Baptist Church, he was born June 29 1897 in Stonecliff. Survivors include brother Howard and three sisters Mrs Virginia Williams Mrs Ethel Saunders and Mrs Clara Rose. Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor to handle arrangements.
Alfred Cresce 57 of Mount Hope died Tuesday in a Beckley hospital after a long illness. Body is at Tyree Funeral Home Mount Hope. Toney Gualtier 88 an Eccles resident for 35 years funeral Thursday at 11 a.m. Melton Mortuary Chapel Rev Thomas Kerrigan in charge. Burial Sunset Memorial Park. Gualtier born February 28 1885 survived by son Guido Bridgeport Conn. Pallbearers listed. Friends may call at mortuary today 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
President Nixon plans to approve 11 Social Security increases this week and signs energy and railroad measures aimed at easing shortages. He spoke by phone with GOP leaders about impeachment sentiment and met with aides at the Western White House as Congress returns. Rebozo joined the holiday TV viewing with the president.
The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce hosts an Eggs and Issues breakfast on January 8 to discuss topics for the 60 day 1974 legislative session. Legislative leaders from both parties will join a panel, followed by West Virginia Politics in 1974 with speakers Sen J C Dillon of Binton and Del Tom Potter of Charleston.

Danny Lee Hanks 37 of Lanark died after a gunshot in his Lanark home. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Dillon. Burial in Stamford Cemetery. His wife Sandra Kay Hanks is charged with murder and released on bond. Friends may call tonight 5 to 9. James Hicklin 74 of Red Star died at Oak Hill Hospital after illness. He was born August 3, 1899 in Nuttall. Survived by wife Laura, son Aubrey, six brothers, and a sister.
Mrs Viola Oates of New York City formerly of Charleston and Winona died Monday in a New York hospital after a long illness. She was born in Winona, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Samuel Saunders. Survived by daughter Sharon Oates of New York City and three sisters Mrs Gussie Austin of Beckley Mrs Mary Davis Mrs Ethel Smith and Mrs Mary Smith all of Cincinnati. Funeral services and burial will be in New York.
Elbert Emory Taylor 84 of Griffith Creek dies Monday in a South Charleston hospital after a brief illness. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at Lobban Funeral Home Chapel Alderson with Revs L A Garten and A A Siers officiating. Burial Fletcher Cemetery Alderson. Survived by sister Mrs Lyda Dillon Beaver.
The funeral for Mary Ellen Sears Watson 81 of Inkster Mich will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home Oak Hill with Rev Ernest Barley officiating. Burial follows at High Lawn Memorial Park. She died Monday at her daughter s home after a short illness. She was born Sept 12 1892 in Hinton a daughter of John and Lucinda Sears. She was a member of Upland Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her son Harold Watson a West Virginia stepson Grover Watson a stepdaughter Pearl Sears a brother Bur less Sears a sister Mrs Ona Higginbotham eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Burial arrangements through the funeral home are listed as from 6 p.m. until Thursday.
