Levy Renewal Action Scheduled at Oak Hill Council Meeting

Oak Hill council plans action on renewing special levies to run three years without raising taxes. City Manager Wallace Bennett notes renewal is a legal step and a June 3 1997 expiration requires a special election. Council will decide levy distribution and advertise dates for the election. The piece also mentions the Andrew Johnson frame tailor shop preserved in Greenville Tennessee.

New Members Honored At Tea In Mullens

The Worman’s Civic Club held an invitational tea at Mrs. David Lucas’s home honoring new members for 1956 57 and prospective members for 1957. New members include Mrs Lucille Hays Mrs Janes Kincaid and Mrs Robert Staton. Twenty six regular members attended plus twelve prospects and two guests.

Montgomery Bridge to Open March 14

The Kanawha River bridge in Montgomery West Virginia is scheduled to open March 14 despite prior delays and right of way troubles. Attending will be Gov Underwood Acting State Road Commissioner M L O Neale former Gov Okey Patteson and former Road Commissioner Burl Sawyers. Temporary railings will be used if handrails are not ready by March 1.
